Send raw files in WhatsApp without losing quality

One day I was trying to send some camera photos to my friend through WhatsApp. Upon sending suddenly noticed that images not sending in their original quality, WhatsApp automatically compressed those images.

Facebook owned instant messaging app WhatsApp is the most popular instant messaging(IM) application in the current time. We can send images, documents, Voice, contact card, current location and recently introduced stickers.

But do you know the photos/images you send to your friends through WhatsApp not sent in their original quality. WhatsApp automatically removes EXIF (extra information eg: geolocation, camera information etc) data and other details from the image and reduces the size of the image, so that less it occurs less traffic across the internet. This is somehow annoying and not expected for some users.

Fortunately there is a way to send raw images through WhatsApp without loosing the quality of the image.

To send photos in their original quality:

  1. Open the WhatsApp contact who you want to send photos.
  2. Next tap on attachment located at the right of message typing box
  3. Select Document to choose a photo from your phone
  4. Select a photo from your phone
  5. Tap Send
This way you can send not only pictures but also documents such as .pdf, .doc/.docx, .ppt/.pptx files etc.

Note: Maximum file size that can be sent as an attachment is allowed to 100 MB.
